Still, Rachel’s attitude did put him somewhat at ease. It seemed this young woman was genuinely loyal to him, so for now, he didn’t have to worry about her spilling secrets to Victoria after marrying into the Rothchilds.

Of course, Rachel’s words alone weren’t enough to completely reassure Youngheart, but at least it was half the battle.

In truth, Rachel, despite her youth, was far more experienced in social maneuvering than most adults—more so even than many seasoned business veterans.

As a scholar, she had endured two kinds of harsh training since childhood: one for blending into society—grades, talents, extracurriculars—and the other, acting.

She had to master flawless acting skills from a young age, so she could get close to her targets during infiltration. Her performance and mental discipline were even stronger than Youngheart’s.

Before coming to this dinner, Rachel had already thought through the logic of the entire situation.

She knew that the moment Youngheart needed her most was right now, before Charlie closed the net around him. All she had to do was keep him feeling secure.

As for whether she’d ultimately marry Robert Rothchild, that wasn’t up to the Rothchilds—it depended on herself, or rather, on Charlie.

If Charlie took down Youngheart, she and her family would be free, and there’d be no need to keep up the act with Robert.

Unless, of course, Charlie needed her to go undercover in the Rothchild family, just like the Poqing Society.

But that seemed highly unlikely. Charlie’s control over the Rothchilds was unprecedented; he could command their heirs directly. To him, a branch family like Robert’s was nothing. He had no need to plant spies in their midst.

Frankly, even if the Robert family installed cameras all over their house and secretly gave Charlie the login, he probably wouldn’t bother to check.

So, as long as Charlie didn’t force her to marry, she definitely wouldn’t go through with it.

After all, marrying Robert would only raise her family’s status in the Poqing Society, but that wasn’t necessarily a good thing. Sometimes, a low-profile scholar family could survive much longer, while the ambitious ones often met tragic ends.

Her current display of loyalty to Youngheart was just a ruse to keep him calm. Once Charlie made his move, she could drop the act entirely.

Youngheart, meanwhile, had no clue that the young woman before him had already calculated everything.

He smiled at Rachel. “Ah, your loyalty truly moves me. Don’t worry—from now on, your family will enjoy unprecedented freedom in the Left Army Governor’s Office. As long as you complete your mission, the other scholars in your family can stop all infiltration work and simply enjoy life!”

Rachel’s mother was so excited she blurted out, “Grand President, is this… really true?”

Youngheart nodded with a smile. “Of course it’s true. But Rachel, now that you’ve gained such a good foothold in the Rothchild family, I’ll need you to interact with them even more in the coming days. Bring me insider information that no one else can get, and keep everything strictly confidential. As long as you do that, I’ll grant your family the greatest freedom.”

Rachel immediately stood up, then dropped to one knee, hands clasped, looking up at Youngheart with utmost respect. “Grand President, please rest assured—I will give it my all.”

Youngheart nodded in satisfaction and waved his hand generously. “Good! Since you have this attitude, I hereby announce that from now on, the other scholars in your family can live however they wish! If they’re still in school, they can drop out. If they’re dating someone they don’t like, they can break up right away. If they’re training in a field they don’t enjoy, they can stop immediately.”
