Hero of Hearts — Lord Leaf
Chapter 7329

As the Grand President of the Left Army Governor’s Office, Youngheart’s willingness to speak so candidly to a scholarly family was an extraordinary show of sincerity.
Rachel’s mother was so overwhelmed by the honor that tears streamed down her face.
She didn’t understand the hidden implications behind all this. She simply thought her daughter had finally made the family proud, that the century-old shackles on their scholarly bloodline had finally loosened.
On the surface, Rachel looked excited, but deep down, she couldn’t help but picture Youngheart’s smug expression morphing into one of utter ruin—bankrupt, broken, and completely hopeless.
Feigning humility and respect, she said to Youngheart, “Thank you, Grand President, for your understanding and care for our family. Please rest assured, I will continue to give my all for you and for our wise leader, serving faithfully as always!”
Youngheart was very pleased with Rachel’s attitude. He sighed with satisfaction, “Ah, so calm in the face of honor and disgrace, so modest and composed. No wonder you’ve won the favor of the Rothchild heirs, and even earned Steve Rothchild’s appreciation. Excellent! Truly excellent!”
Rachel bowed her head, hands clasped in a respectful salute. “Grand President, you flatter me!”
Youngheart looked at her seriously. “No, I’m not exaggerating at all. In fact, I’m being a bit conservative. As things stand, you might very well become the most capable and accomplished scholar the Poqing Society has seen in decades—possibly the best ever. But whether you can truly reach the top depends on whether you succeed in marrying into the Rothchild family. If, one day, your name becomes Rachel Rothchild, you’ll be the undisputed number one scholar!”
Rachel’s mother was visibly moved by these words, unable to contain her excitement.
Rachel herself, though calm inside, put on a show of barely suppressed joy and replied respectfully, “If I ever reach the heights you describe, Grand President, I will never forget your support and guidance! Everything I and my family have, we owe to you!”
This speech made Youngheart even more delighted.
Although he talked about hoping Rachel would marry into the Rothchild family, he actually had his own concerns.
Right now, Rachel’s greatest value was in helping him build his private fortune.
But if Rachel truly married into the Rothchilds, such a major event would have to be reported to headquarters, and Victoria would definitely find out.
For a scholar to marry into the Rothchilds was like an ancient scholar winning the imperial exam—an achievement that had to be reported to the emperor himself.
If things reached that point, it would actually be bad for Youngheart.
Once Victoria met or contacted Rachel directly, Rachel would be out of his control, and he’d lose his leverage. If she revealed everything to Victoria, it would become a huge problem for him.
So, what he really wanted was not for Rachel to actually marry into the Rothchild family, but for her to generate enough wealth for him before that happened—and then, ideally, for some 'accident' to befall her, causing her to die suddenly.
That way, he wouldn’t need to report anything about Rachel to Victoria. Everything could be quietly handled within the Left Army Governor’s Office.
He’d have made his money, and Rachel would take his secrets to the grave. That was the best outcome for him.
